Purpose of a Notary Public

About 1 in 15 people are victims of identity fraud every year. This comes to almost 17 million victims annually. The primary goal of a South Carolina Notary Public is to deter such criminal acts and protect the public from fraud and ID theft. Appointed by the S.C. Secretary of State, we serve as an official of integrity and impartial witness to performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.

Inexpensive Notary Public Services for the Lowcountry

No one likes surprises when it comes to billing. Per South Carolina law, all notary fees are agreed upon in advance. And for the sake of transparency, we also post our rates on our website. Our fees are as follows:

  • Pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §26-1-100(A), there is a $5.00 fee per notarial act.

    • (1)    for an acknowledgment, five dollars per signature;

    • (2)    for an oath or affirmation without a signature, five dollars per person;

    • (3)    for a jurat, five dollars per signature;
